Simple Is Often Best

A Promise

With the sun pouring through the windows this morning as a promise that summer is not too far away, I'm so ready for a few clean surfaces, light bedding and warm breezes. This place is the perfect embodiment of those things. {And after freezing my hand off cleaning the pool filter out this morning, a pool sitting out in the warm sunshine looks the business too!}

I love the polished concrete against the original stone walls of this renovated and extended Spanish home. Lots of white balanced with natural textures and simple furnishings is a perfect fit out.

Look Familiar

Lately I've been noticing homes that are full of inspiration for the 60's Splendour. Case in point this L.A. home - the floor to ceiling windows and the original timber cabinetry look familiar.

But I'd really love to inject some of the black and white photo collection and a bath ledge full of Bitossi around here.

Intensified

I love the way this old Melbourne home has been treated. The original details in the front part of the home have been retained and intensified. The dark shutters keep the feel intimate.

But the one original feature that holds out some hope for me is the old school wall texture {bit hard to see, if you take a closer look at the larger images you'll spot it}. Given the extent of 'texture' that the 60's Splendour has on its walls - I'm thrilled to see an example of it looking the business in a beautifully renovated home.

Instant Warmth

Happy weekend to one and all. I wish I was waking up to that view this morning. Instead I'm sitting here cradling my hot lemon and honey and feeling really crook. I've got the dreaded lurgy at the moment and its really knocked me for six.

But at least I'm getting some visual delights to lift my spirits like this gorgeous home. Despite the new modern shell, the owners have cleverly kept the interiors soft and full of texture. It really helps a new home to develop instant warmth.
